Cartegena has a lot to offer for tourists, with its tree lines streets and it beautiful architecture.

The port area is particularly nice.
The city’s port  boasts the deepest waters in Europe, as a result many med cruise ships regularly dock in the port.
Rumour has it NATO has their submarines based here too

Also within the port area there is a magnificent Roman Amphitheatre
The site contains a museum , and you pass thru various levels in the museum via lift.
At the top of the museum is the exit into the top of the Amphitheatre

​BUS :  Bus depart for CARTAGENA  from bus stop 8 in Lo Pagan  (47 MOVIBUS/ALSA bus)
            Although the distance is not that far, the bus takes best part of an hour. But on the postive it does visits loads of small unique towns and villages on the way.
          If travelling by bus. take the left out of station and the port area would be approx 15min walk away. 
          Note in the height of summer it might be best to pay for a taxi in one direction, as it can get very hot in the city .

CAR:  Driving takes about 35 mins from Lo Pagan.  There are no tolls  and the A70 will take you directly into the heart of the city.
          The city is well laid out with very wide tree lined streets.  Thus driving is easier than in some other cities
          Drive straight as far as possible,  you will then hit a HUGE  roundabout, take the exit by the left of the REPSOL garage
          Drive down this road  until you see the sea on right side, then look out for Parking sign  directing you down to an underground car park.
        At the moment there is some development in the front of the port. But it is still a nice area to visit
         There is a cheap and massive car park situated BENEATH the whole port area.  Once within port area have a look for Parking signs
         NOTE:  within CATAGENA  most PARKING  is   NOT FREE  so check for Pay and Display Machines nearby.
         Even with a car hire, councils     will chase and recover their PENALTY fines.
